A round of Shortcuts

improvement

We introduced several shortcuts from headers to increase modeling and reporting productivity. Now and directly from grid headers, you are able to:

  • open the dependency diagram from Metric's headers
  • sort dimension items and hide items from the Dimension's headers
  • edit property from List Property's headers

Tree View layout on Tables and Metrics

new

Tree View available for Tables and Metrics!

A new layout has been added to Metrics and Tables so that you can display row headers as a tree.

You will now have the possibility to switch between the Tabular Mode and the Tree View Mode.

The Tree View will display within the same column the Metrics and Dimensions that have been selected in the Table. Expand/Collapse functionality is available directly on the row headers thanks to + / - icons.

The option "Show Totals on first row" is enabled by default in this mode and can be disabled from the same panel.

New KPI widget

new

Easily highlight key data points on Boards thanks to the new KPI widget. The KPI widget allows you to display a single numeric value in a formatted text and to complement it with a small description.

image.png

In order to successfully display a KPI you have to create a KPI view first. There are two ways to create a KPI view:

  • Right-click on any cell of the grid and click on “Create KPI view”. All dimensions in Columns/Rows will automatically be moved to Pages with the relevant items already selected in the page selector.

OR

  • Move all pivots from Columns/Rows to Pages and save the View.

Once you have created your KPI compatible View, add a KPI widget directly from Boards by clicking on the new KPI widget.

Customize the layout of your Views

new

Arrange the layout of Tables based on the Dimensions you really need.

It is now possible to customize the layout of Tables so that Dimensions are only displayed when relevant.

This means that the Pigment platform is now able to display the figures as they are defined on the original Metric. We have removed the previous behaviour that used to implicitly aggregate or split the figures in order to match the Dimensions that were available in the Table.

Use the option "Densify headers" in the Layout panel of Tables to make the row headers as compact as possible, fitting them on the same column. For instance, if your Table contains four Dimensions but each Metric displays only two, the Table layout will only display two row headers instead of four.

Page Selector improved flexibility

improvement

You can now have the same dimension in both Page selector AND Row/Column!

This is very useful on board to make sur that all widgets are filtered based on the global page selector even if the dimension is used in row or column.

Play with formulas using the Formula Preview

new

The multi-dimensional aspect of Pigment's formula language is powerful but sometime can be misleading. Indeed, dimensions of the formula are "aligned" with dimensions of the metric where it's entered.

With the Formula Preview, Pigment offers a tool which allows you to test some formulas in a "sandbox". In Formula Preview, the Type and Dimensions of your block are deduced from the formula.
